Our Prepschool

Our programme caters for children three to five years old. Our Prepschoolers build on prior knowledge, capabilities and confidence as they develop a greater awareness of themselves as learners.

As part of their daily routine they enjoy "Mini Groups" in the morning. These small and developmentally appropriate groups allow the children to practice already acquired skills and develop new ones.

Our lunchtime group is a chance for all the children to come together and work on tasks such as sequencing, sorting and seriation. We also work on learning strategies for active exploration.

Afternoon group promotes physical activity including music and movement, drama and group games.

During our free play time children experience a variety of art activities and resources to support individual learning. Carefully considered experience ensure Kaiako support learning and development where children are challenged and have the opportunities to learn across the curriculum.

Transition to School

At Peppertree we work to ensure your child's transition to school is as smooth as possible by fostering independence, and encouringing children to take responsibility for themselves and their belongings.  We visit local schools on a regular basis and liase with new entrant teachers to ensure school readiness for our tamariki.

We have good relationships with the local primary schools and are part of the Puketeraki - Community of Learning where new entrant teachers and Early Childhood Teachers meet regularly.
